Editorial & Fiction Policy

Dastan publishes original fiction, storytelling, and selected editorial content. This page explains how we label, review, source, and correct what we publish.

Original Fiction

Stories labeled as original fiction are created for Dastan and are not presented as accounts of real people or verified real-world events. Names, characters, organizations, locations, dialogue, and circumstances may be invented for storytelling purposes.

Original fictional stories are clearly identified within the article so readers do not have to guess whether a narrative is being presented as fact.

Editorial Review

Before publication, original stories may be reviewed for originality, continuity, pacing, plausibility, clarity, internal consistency, and whether the ending is supported by the story that precedes it.

We also review titles, excerpts, images, category placement, internal links, and search metadata so that the page accurately represents the story rather than promising a different or exaggerated narrative.

Bylines

Content prepared and reviewed collectively may be published under the Dastan Editorial Team byline. Individual contributors or editors may receive their own byline where appropriate.

A byline identifies editorial responsibility for the page; it does not change whether the work is fiction, factual reporting, commentary, or another form. The content itself should make that distinction clear.

Factual and Source-Based Content

When Dastan publishes content based on public information, news reports, documents, or other external material, we aim to distinguish sourced facts from interpretation and storytelling. Where useful, we may link to or identify relevant sources.

Information can change after publication, so time-sensitive factual content may be updated when new information becomes available.

Images and Media

Images may include original media, licensed material, properly attributed stock or editorial photography, promotional assets, or other media used under applicable permissions. Image captions and attribution are included where appropriate.

Corrections and Updates

If we identify a material factual error, misleading label, broken attribution, or other significant issue, we may correct or update the page. Minor edits for grammar, formatting, clarity, or technical presentation may be made without a separate correction note.

Reader Transparency

Our goal is simple: readers should be able to understand what kind of content they are reading. Original fiction should be identifiable as fiction; factual claims should not be disguised as fiction; and editorial presentation should not intentionally create confusion about the nature of a story.
